Please can someone help regarding my Exhaust system. Car is 2001 Y reg 206CC 2.0SE which has only covered 17500 miles !!! took it to Peugeot main dealer the other day to take advantage of £200 service+MOT offer and they said I need a new exhaust system costing £800+!!!!!!! Have seen this system below on the net

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/exhausts_de ... ordID=2043

and was wondering if it can be made to fit "without too much hassle" as the local garage down the road are prepared to fit it. Any advice/help appreciated. Thank you.

Rgds

Have you tried looking in the Problems section of the forums? There is loads of info there if you've got a few minutes to go through it. Sorry, can't be any more helpful than that :(

I guess that it is the flange between the rear of the centre pipe and back box that has rotted out?

That system does not fit the 206CC however..

Is that just because of the 2 lambda sensors? if so there's an easy way round it.

My centre section rotted away from the back box after just under 2 years.

I guess hitting speed bumps with it as the car was too low contributed but the monkeys were never gonna work that one out so it was replaced under warranty.

Note: I do not class reap as a monkey :D

Regarding 2 lamda sensors, I only see 1 wire going into the side of the cat on mine ? nothing into the 2 boxes beyond the cat. I was hoping the garage to cut the pipe beyond the cat and get this system to "fit" ?

If you have a lambda sesnor downstream of the cat then you have a 2 lambda car.

na
one lambda sensor is on the top of the exhaust manifold and the other is in the down pipe before the cat.
bosal do a good replacment pipe that can be fitted after the cat with out replacing cat.
ohhh haaaaa ooohhhh aaaaaa(monkey noises.)

Your saying both lambda sensors are pre cat? They wouldn't work like that. The second lambda checks the gases to make sure whats coming out the cat is correct.
I think you should go and have a look under a GTi or CC SE.

To be even more technically exacting i don't think the first lambda sensor is in the manifold, it's actually in the down pipe. You can just about see it after the flexipipe on the right....
Am i right in saying you're a mechanic reap?

yes.. your pic is of a 2.0 litre(rfn) or 1.8.
the tu engines have differant setups.
tu engines have the up stream and down stream
2.0 have single in the downpipe. :D
