Build date-finally

After nearly 10 weeks of waiting, and harrassing the dealer weekly, we have finally been given a build date of 18.1.02 for our new CC. He could not tell us when we will get it, so we have a question. Can anyone tell us how long after build date is delivery, in general?
Thanks to everyone for keeping us going during a long wait, with the forum.

most owners wait 2-3 weeks after the build date to get their sweaty on hands on it

I called into my dealer yesterday to enquire about my car. I ordered at the end of July and he said he is expecting delivery some time next week!!

I told him that I will be waiting until March still and that he will not see me before then. I know if I see the car I will want it there and then!!

Not long now.....

So now my only problem is staying away from the dealer for approx 2 weeks because i know when we see it we will want it straight away.
Does anyone think that the dealer would use our car as a demo while we wait to pick it up(

My car arrived on the 20th December at the dealership and it has not moved from where they parked it, my Build date was the 15th December and the car arrived on the 20th so there was not a long time to wait but I am not having the car registered until January.

MY BUILD DATE IS 16/01/02. BEEN WAITING 4 WEEKS LONGER THAN CORKY. CAN'T DECIDE WHETHER TO HAVE IT WHEN IT ARRIVES OR WAIT FOR NEW REG.

I know what you mean i would love to drive away as soon as it comes in but i keep telling myself it makes more sense to wait a bit for the new reg or does it make any difference really

Our Silver CC Se was delivered to the dealer two weeks ago but we decided to wait until January to get it registered - pick it up on the 2nd - Hooray

. We also thought about waiting until the new plates come out but thought whats the point waiting even longer for a car we have already paid the deposit on and leave it gathering dust in a dealers compound! The cars going to depreciate sooner or later anyway! I say unless you get the car just a couple of weeks before the new reg just jump in and drive it as soon as you can!

i would get it as soon as it arrives. i collected mine on 6/12/01 after ordering it on 30/7/01.

as far as the mileage goes re: demo's .....

if it worries you that much, go and see your car to check the mileage when it arrives at the dealer. alternatively, check the mileage when you get the car. mines had 5 miles on it when i got it which is average although i wouldnt be happy if it had 10 or more as it could suggest it has been getting used somewhere along the line.

if a 'new' car has done more than 25 miles it can be classed legally as second hand.

Well, my philosophy is this. (if I can spell it!)

I have never had a new car. If I registered mine next week when it arrives at the dealer, it will "look" new for about 7 weeks.

I would rather wait (what's 7 weeks when I have been waiting since July!) and have my car looking new for 6 months and benefit when I come to sell because it looks newer than a "51" reg car I should get more money for it provided it is in good condition.

Don't get me wrong here, my heart is saying get in and register the car as soon as it arrives. I have banned myself from going to my dealer between now and March because if I see it, I'll want it. I know it will be worth the wait though.

The reg identifier is all about how you see the car yourself. My first "new" cars were registered on 1/8/94, 1/8/95 and 1/8/96, after that the novelty wore off

They were followed by:

20/2/98 - half way through the 12 months
2/5/00 - 2 months after the 6 month period
6/12/01 - just over the half way mark

p.s. - best thing to do once the reg is no longer "new" is to stick on a private reg, that way no one knows what it is.

I guess I am on the "new reg" trip at the mo.

Whatever number is put on it, it is going to get old eventually but it will always be a CC!

Quite right, it is a good experience, especially the first time you buy a new car.

I'm sure the next 7 weeks will go in quick taking into account the time you have already waited.
