Did you replace the battery with the correct one for the 206cc? It is taller than the one for the 206 hatchback. If you use the one for the hatchback the extra strain on the terminals can cause breaks in continuity.
Another cause can be a faulty earth lead connection, so check the earth straps and leads.

Hi thanks for the reply yes correct battery fitted and all connections are good so do think that the throttle position sensor would cause the symptom's for the battery disconnect ie time/date going to zero

I will order a new one throttle sensor (is this a straight swap or is a set up required) but as I said no faults came up on the machine?

No, the throttle position sensor should not cause the symptom's for the battery disconnect so don't order a new one - it would be a waste of money. A faulty one should have shown up on diagnostics.
