ATS won't be specialists ... but they should be able to get the right codes.
That's what went on our HDi ... and yes, f'ing expensive if a Multiplex unix. Pre-plex are much cheaper.
I don't think you have said what age the car is?
You might be able to trace one on fleabay or a breakers if you can get the part number off the existing unit as there are several different types.
I change mine myself as it really is plug&play once the steering wheel is off!

ATS initially diagnosed the codes and it was these who "Twiddled a few things".
They shy'd away from it.
After they couldn't rectify it, she took it to a local garage (not sure who), it was these who diagnosed the squib.
Incidentally the car is a 2006.
I'll report back with the final verdict in a week or so.

OK, that's Multiplex so yes, expensive. I paid out over £120 for the unit about 6 years ago. So it's likely to have gone up.
But fitting shouldn't add much ... not the "lady owner" quotation system is it? Takes less than an hour even waiting for air-bag system to discharge. You just need a T60 Torx socket to get the wheel bolt out. The air-bag clips on.

She did have something replaced under warranty for the air bag light when the car was a year old.
Apparently a common fault, but she doesn't know what.

I think she may have had a "Lady Owner Quote"
£54 to look at it, and an estimate of £375 to fix the squib.
Incidentally ATS charged nothing.

Get her to call a Peugeot (or Citroen) dealer and get a quote for the part from them.
She still might find it is cheaper or she can take a note of the part number and try on fleabay or asking on one of the other 206 forums is anyone has one for sale. My other trick is to email people breaking them on fleabay and asking ... :-)
