But have you noticed the large empty metal box and bracing struts under the boot? Plenty of room for a skinny spare if the designers had pulled their fingers out!

I asked the guys at Peugeot whether this could be removed/modded to take a spare? They said, "Probably not mate", as this would bugger the car up. In the meantime I shall have to drive extra quick to reduce the chance of punctures.

The 206 in all its types has a spare tyre back under the car. Only CC is the exception on this.
The CC has four struts and the metal box under the car (in place where the other 206s have the spare tyre). These struts are just to reduce the cabin warps that all cabrios are suffering from.
So there is NO design problem with the car!!

I think I have to agree with Tzag. That's what the head technician told me when I asked him for the metal box in one of my several visits to my dealer.

I gave Lyndon a copy of a technicians video yesterday that confirms what you said about the strengthening.

If he aint too busy he may capture the roof operation bits and upload it

Perhaps I should have said design opportunity missed, rather than 'problem'!

Just get an extra alloy/tyre and put it in the boot. There is still a lot of place left.
I 've done the same. I think that weld damages the tyres. Anyway i will use the weld only if i get 2 flat tyres !!

Stephen,

I went through this issue a couple of weeks back, (see Punctures & the AA). We collect our cc on Saturday and have gone for the space saver option. Originally I wanted to fit a underslung rack as per 306, but as Rob said in reply to my comments, there isn't room under the car for this due to strengthening bars and supports required due to it being a "Coupe / Cabriolet". You either have to accept the tyre weld or stuff a wheel in the boot - a small price to pay methinks.

At least the full size wheel will fit into the car if you get a puncture, unlike many others - Porsche 911 etc.

2 Days to go !!
