Erm
Did you Re-fit the black spacer things that sit on the existing hoops?
See Lyndon's pictures (He hasn't fitted them on his hoops. Are yours the same)

hope everyone gets their hoops today. i am going to find out what went wrong because i'm not happy, here's the problems i had .....

i had the 9 packages all sealed and addressed and got one of my staff to take them to the post office (at the other end of the store from my office  ) i told her what it cost the last time and gave her the cash and the 9 special delivery slips all written out.

she came back and said it would be an extra £2+ more than i quoted for 3-4 day delivery or £12 extra for the special delivery that i used last time. so down she went again and asked why the difference. it turns out that if the package goes over 2kg (2000g) then the rate goes up - quite dramatically i would say.

so i got the digital scale out of the bakery and weighed the package and it was 2030g. another was over weight as well so i removed the caps and sent them separate and got the weight down to below 2kg - the other 7 were ok. then they were posted and i thought that was the end of it.

then paul sent me a text yesterday to say they hadn't arrived and i think paul has posted my repsonses.

so all in sorry for the delays but as you will see it's not my fault - but i will be making every effort to find out why this happened. hope everyone receives there's today.

as for fitting, lyndon slightly bent one of the spikes where i lined up the two spikes over the holes and covered the top of the hoops with a thick towel and used a hammer  it worked well and as erm said you can lift the car up with the hoops

lastly a big thank you to paul who was able to keep everyone up to date as i wasn't able to get online last night.

laptop went in for an estimate today so we will see what happens there. if too expensive then i will need to get a new one next week - £100 donations will be appreciated from all members

yeah thanks derek. i got my hoops today, i know it wasn't your fault for the delay and i'm sure the others will agree you are a star for sorting this. very grateful

regarding the seals at the base of the original black hoops, i've been on the search today for something to go on the chrome ones, even if it's just washers. anything would be an improvement on having them just fit straight against the trim like that.

eventually i found 2 options - either black rubber camshaft seals (rover ones are a good fit) or some black synthetic strip from the inside of a bmw bumper. (and don't ask how i discovered this, but it involved ice cream and lots of begging....) the bmw bumper strip folds round the base of the hoop and makes it sit snugly like the original hoops with seals.

if you want any more tips, then PM me. happy motoring, the weather this weekend looks set to be superb
