Because we all have auto-lights that come on when it's dark, and go off when it's light. No beeping when you open the door or anything.

Both my electric windows operate the same - first click moves the window down as long as you hold it, push further and it goes down on its own.

There are also two stages on the buttons for moving the windows back up.

In the Belgian 206CC, auto lights can be switched off (multiplex version).

They can in every version (that has the feature, of course). It involves turning the ignition to position 1 and pressing the end of the stalk in. Not very practical to do it every time you get in/out of the car. ;)

Maybe you're a control freak and don't want the lights on unless you've decided they should be on? Maybe you like driving around in the dark with no lights on? Something daft like that, perhaps.

If you set it/unset it every time you get in, there's very little point in having Auto Lights

Set it once and leave it on -- that's what it's for. Now only if I could get the Auto Wipers to do the same

There's probably a good reason why the auto wipers don't automatically come on each time. I can think of several daft reasons off the top of my head. Maybe someone could ask Pug?

My issues with the lights:

1) I'm sure the manual says that the lights stay on to let you see your way back to your door, and when you lock the car they should go off.. not stay on for 45 seconds (which is the max time they can stay on if you don't lock the door in that time)

2) I wish they made a way to override the auto-lights when your driving (pushing the button in would have been a good idea!).. cos I have had the lights lock on, like when i came out of the garage the other day... and i had to drive to work in the (relative) sunshine with my lights blaring... ended up selecting sidelights in the end!

My auto lights go off as soon as I lock the car same as Derek :)

Does say in the handbook that they will go off after 45 sec or when the doors are locked - could have been written by a dyslexic Monkey though
