Crackle noise when accelerating

Hi all, new to the site. Looks good. Bought a 2001 206cc 2.0L three and a half weeks ago which was in, quote, "perfect condition". I sent it back to the dealers after a week cause it's got loads of problems and havn't seen it since. Starting to wonder why I bought the damn thing in the first place! What is concerning me most is a crackling noise from the engine when accelerating, especially when the engine has warmed up - if anyone has driven an old Ford with dodgy camshaft bearings you'll know what I mean. The dealer is saying there is nothing wrong with the engine and that it's a normal noise. Is he being honest or is there really a problem. Look forward to hearing from anyone in the know or with a similar noise.
