My 206cc makes an extremely high rev sound just before I change gear.... and NO before you say, it is not my driving!! Sometimes it doesnt do it but mostly it does and its sounds like Im reving the hell out of it, quite embarrasing. Ive had it nerly a year and its done it since I bought it, does anyone think it sounds like a problem I should get checked out or as Ive had no probs so far leave it? Also sounds like a ticking noise a little at the mo, a tappet maybe? Dont wannt pay for it to be checked if its nothing. All help very welcome, cheers ;)

Welcome to the forum Suzanne.
You don't tell us much about your 206cc... what year? which engine size? How many miles? When last serviced?
Revving noise.......Sticking accelerator pedal perhaps?
Tappet noise? When was the oil and filter changed? How many miles ago? Which oil have you got in it? Is the oil level still correct on the dipstick?

When I put my key in ignition and start the engine (not pressing any pedals) the car revs by itself, the dial on the left (2001 - 2.0 SE 206cc) needle goes to 3 while its reving then drops down as the reving lowers, it does for about 4-5 seconds, is this normal? Or does something need attention.

This is my last technical query for the moment (fingers crossed)
