Should I service every 10k km or 30k km?

My 206cc handbook says I should only service (at least change the engine oil) every 30,000 km, but someone told me synthetic engine oil needs to be change every 10,000km. So what is it? 10k or 30k?

In the UK every 20,000 miles or 2 years whichever comes soonest. However, every 12 months if you're fanatical and really care about cars. Renew brake fluid every 2 years.
