Is it just me, or does anyone else think the cigarette lighter is in a really stupid place?

Being female, I was born without a sense of direction so imagine my delight at the invention of Sat Nav!!

I didn't give the position of the lighter a second thought until I came to 'plug in' for a long journey. Any suggestions on how to avoid the wire stretching across and tangling around the gear stick while driving? My sat nav doesn't have a mains charger, so if I go on holiday I can't charge it up while I'm away, to enable me not to have to use the lead.

Suppose I could always make sure I take someone with map reading skills with me! :lol2:

Well, having an automatic car I've never had a problem with the lead :P

However, depending on how long your lead is, you could run it under your knees, or at least run it under your left knee, then mount the GPS in the bottom right-hand corner of the windscreen? (That's where I mounted mine, until the clip broke!!! :censored: now it has to lie face-down on the passenger seat grrrrr.....) That should hopefully keep the lead out of the gearshift's way :D

My lead isn't that long, its one of the curly telephone type leads but it doesn't stretch very far. Might see if I can source some sort of extension that plugs in the lighter (there must be such a thing).

Either that or hubby-to-be can sit and hold it for me!:hyper:

Hi Chushpie - agree with you about the lighter socket being in the wrong place! I usually pull my satnav lead over to the left and shut a bit of it in the glove compartment door - it keeps it out of the way and hasn't harmed the lead so far!
