New Car Stereo

Post by streamer1122 »

Hi Lads/Ladies,

So I've got one of these things in there at the moment;

...and I can't listen to the music on my iphone. I'm using one of those FM transmitters but as anyone who's used one will know; they're pants.

Question
Are there any stereos out there that are compatible with the display?
et voilà, one of these little beauties

Would I just be looking for any stereo with a certain type of connection?

Thanks in advanced!
(oh and thanks for the external sites that host these images)

you have to buy a stereo which is compatible with the steering wheel controls then you need a wire to connect them halfords is the best as it tells you what you need and they offer a fitting service which i am having done soon so i will let you know if the screen works too :thumbs:

I'm changing my stereo from the standard installed Clarion to a JVC. If you want to keep the stalk controls you have to also purchase a Stalk Control Armour Auto part (PC29-607) so I've been told (mine's a 2.0 Se 02 reg). The only doubt is whether I can still keep the dash display (clock, date, temperature etc) but I'm having mine changed professionally so I will of course let you guys know how it goes.
Also, make sure the new stereo you buy is steering wheel/stalk control ready otherwise it's no good.
Hope this helps :)

I have a Sony head unit installed in my 02 model, with the"correct" autoleads adaptor (took some time for the halfords monkey to get the right one plugged in! Had to let Halfords do it as the dealer I got the car from was paying for it) I have full remote control functionality but no display on the multifunction screen .
I believe there are other adaptors which retain the display from http://www.connects2.co.uk.
Have fun
