New member from Chelmsford

Post by Dal »

My girlfriend today bought a 51 plate 206 cc and loves it to bits.

It appears to of been neglected over the years so hoping with a bit of effort and replacing a few bits we can tidy it up a bit.

both front tyres are damaged so being replaced on Saturday
needs the centre console bulbs replaced as display is very dim
bottle washer cap is missing
interior light doesn't always come on
number plate lights need replacing - one very dim.

BUT on the plus side the windows and roof go down and it drives well for a car this age.

so for now i would like to say Hi and if anyone has any advice or things i should check then please go ahead

Welcome to the forum Dal.

Many new owners experience problems because they don't bother to read the owners manual thoroughly before using the car, so my advice would be to familiarise yourselves with that first - particularly about the roof operation. Other than the tyres the bits you mention should be inexpensive to replace. Hopefully the car will have been serviced with an annual oil and filter change which should have left the engine in good condition, and the timing belt renewed once already. Is it a 1.6 or a 2.0 litre?

sadly we have no manual - although I'm trying to source one currently :( for this very reason so at the moment I'm gaining my knowledge from this site

we will be getting it booked in for a service shortly to make sure its all OK.

i apologise in advance as there will be lots of questions coming :sorry:
