Toying with changine my stock alloys for bigger ones with
drifferent style in black to match my Azura Blue cc.

Looking for ideas guys with pics if possible.

What size do you have now? 15 or 16?

Even at 16" the 45 profile is getting harsh and good tyres in that size aren't cheap ...

Going larger means the profile gets silly to keep the speedo correct.

195 55 r15 all around. As far as I know these are the correct size for the 1.6 model. But cruising at 60mph I am keeping level with hgv. Hgv can have tweaks to do 57mph but most are restricted to 56mph, except for stupid Asda and Argos trucks which I think are 52mph poor sods.
This is normal driving, not racing down hill where the weight carries the truck beyond its restrictor.

Speedos generally read fast up to 5%. Should help stop speeding tickets!

Try with a satnav ...

I dont believe that. I would expect the manufacturer to supply an accurate speedometer.

My Alfa 156 is about 2 mph fast when compared to my TomTom. 68mph shows as 70 on speedo, 58 as 60..

Tyres can make a small difference.

Also forgot the the Pug's BSI unit can be programmed with wheel/tyre size as long as it is a standard combo from factory.

According to mytyres, the 1.6 can have 185/55R15, 195/55R15 and 205/45R16.

Fitting 185's with a 195 setting in the BSI will make it fast.

Problem is, people think it's clever (and cheaper) to fit different profiles ... they don't realise the problems that causes. If your speedo is running fast, you are also clocking up more miles than reality ...

Nonsense. Having wider tyres or thinner would make no difference. The circumference would still be the same.

Suggest you go to carbibles website and have a read ... A 185 55 profile is smaller in diameter and therefore circumference than a 195 55 ...

Profile is percentage of tread width ...

Increase the diameter of the wheel and you reduce the profile to maintain the diameter ... Increase the width as well and you reduce the profile further ...
