HI
I'm hoping someone has has a similar problem and can point me in the right direction.... I have a 2003 206cc 1600 with aircon
The coolant fan doesn't start when the ac is turned on and clutch engages. The high speed fan works fine
I've changed the 2 fan relays and low speed resistor with new parts and cleaned up the contacts.
I now need to do some serious debug but I can't take the bumper off for access so have limited access to parts.
Can someone tell me physically in the engine where are the following parts....
1/ Air coolant temp thermistor
2/ Air conditioner coolant temp unit
3/ Diagnostic Connector
See the attachments for the wiring diagram
I have The torque app with an ELM 327 but no access to the peugeot tool to turn the fan on. The FAP app doesn't work unfortunately and Torque doesn't appear to let me control the fans
I figure this could be a wiring harness issue or a problem the low speed relays now being switched on when ac is switched... I just can't figure where to probe with a multimeter...
any pointers would be gratefully received - my big issue is access so I'm looking for easily accessible probe points

The diag connector is behind the removable panel above the driver's right knee, together with the internal fuses and the BSI. You will not get much joy with ELM diagnostics with Peugeot - you need Peugeot Planet software and the proprietary dongle (Lexia 3). The real McCoy is an arm and a leg, but Chinese copies are available on EBay.

Re: Low speed engine fan not working- where are these parts physically
Many thanks IanL for your reply
I have peugeot planet now.. the high speed fam does work correctly - says there is an oc somewhere
I'm still trying to locate the no 2 item.. Air conditioner coolant temp unit
Ive fitted a new a/c compressor and the ac worked BUT low speed fan doesn't turn on when ac started. The low speed fan does turn on when the water temp gets to 100 dec c but high speed doesn't work unless i disconnect the water temperature sensor so all relays and the fan resistor are all changed and working.
the only wire i cant buzz is the high speed fan relay 5v activation wire because I cant physically locate the air con coolent temp unit... I have the wiring diagram but can't find wiring loom or physical location on the car of that unit

Re: Low speed engine fan not working- where are these parts physically
Unfortunately, the copy of Peugeot Service Box on my old laptop won't run, and trying to transfer it to my new one didn't work, so all I can suggest is that you access it from Peugeot's site. Last time I looked it was pay-to-access, but it does allow you to highlight units on the wiring diagrams, and obtain illustrations of location. You have to register as an independent garage - that used to work, but they may have tightened up.
The alternative is to download the version from an EBay seller and install in VirtualBox or similar, eg this one.

Many thanks for the eBay service box link.. I've installed it and the schematics help a lot...
Now all I need to find is the parts location information.. I've 3 parts on the schematic that I can't locate on the car or by Google search.. Any ideas?

I can't try it myself, but, as I recall, you just click the element on the schematic, and a window opens to the location, or perhaps a menu pops up and you select location - something like that?

Re: Low speed engine fan not working- where are these parts physically
I was under the impression that it was not a 206+. I had a 2005 206CC, and it was not a +, just a mux.

Re: Low speed engine fan not working- where are these parts physically
it's vin is VF32DNFUF43326022... 2003 plate.. dam DAM 971088 I'm entering 09710 into the tool but actually i'm not sure if i am using the right settings
I'll see if i can enter a 206 with mux option ... I can't remember seeing that on the tool.. it doesn't accept the vin due to no lookup
that might explain why i don't see the 5 wires connectiing to the LS fan relay, just 4.. The high spped fan relay has 4 wires.. the diag tool tells me no coherency on the high speed fan relay so I thinks thats where i need to look. disconnecting the water temp sensor turns the LS fan on but the HS fan doesn't kick in.. LS fan also doesn't kick in when the ac is turned on... I tink i need to get courage u to disconnect the emu connector and buz out the wire that activates the HS fan relay... but i'm worried about causing issues with ECU/ BSI / emobilizer set up - right now i can drive the car in cold weather

You shouldn't cause issues if you observe the 3 minute rule before disconnecting the battery.

Re: Low speed engine fan not working- where are these parts physically
just a final update to say problem solved. It turns out everything needs to be working for correct functioning of fans and AC
a new ac compressor with drier and a complete full regas at a specialist (not Kwikfit or Protyre) got the ac working but the low speed fan didn't turn on with ac on and no LS or HS fan working on the car when running.
using the PP actuator test i could see the low speed fan worked but high speed didn't get to full speed (no coherancy)
Using a cable at the relays to activate the fan manualy showed both LS and HS fans would work.
Finally i found that F1 mini 10a fuse in the engine compartment was blown (maybe i did something when replacing the AC compressor or debugging the relays whn I started)
When the F1 fuse was replaced the LS fan turns on with AC on and both PP LS and HS actuator tests work perfectly.
cleared the faults using PP and all is good now - working AC in the car
many thanks to IanL for the help and tips on how to access service box and SEDRE for electric diagrams
