Aircon noise

Hi
I know I'm a bit late for the party but I have a rather nice low mileage 2 litre petrol 206 cc.
I've had it a couple of years now and apart from a few small gremlins it's been a good car.
It has the digital climate control and I never bother using eco mode.I just keep it set at 21.5 and let the aircon do it's thing (except for when I drop the roof)
I've been well impressed with the aircon.
It still blows ice cold air and seems to work perfectly,but these last few months I've noticed the engine bay makes a constant tapping / clicking noise when the aircon is on and only when the engine is ticking over.
If I press the accelerator pedal to increase the revs slightly the noise goes away.
If I switch the aircon off the noise instantly stops.
I've also noticed the noise is not there when I do a cold start in the morning but after my 16 mile drive to work it appears.Apart from this the air con works perfectly fine though.
Is this something I should be concerned about.

There are one or two relays which control the fans which cool the engine coolant and refrigerant radiators. I never bothered to understand their action, but you can use Peugeot Planet to dive into them. It occurs to me the clicking may be due to a malfunction in that area under certain conditions, which results in one of those relays constantly switching between positions.

Having re-read this thread, I have recalled another piece of obscure information. The relay behaviour I described is known as Relay Chatter.
