Hi,
Anyone suffered from this. Car starts ok but drove for 2hrs. Stopped car for 2mins then when I tried to switch on, engine vibrated heavier than usual but engine wouldn't catch !.Tried to start several times with same vibration/result ?. On approx 5th attempt car starts as usual. Car has been in for its first service around a month ago and everything seemed peachy ?. Has anyone been in the same boat ?.

I have had the same problem on mine a few times as well. Only happens when the engine is hot. I reckon it is the heat from the engine vapourising the fuel somewhere before it enters the cylinder block. I have found that if you turn the ignition on and wait for a couple of seconds before turning it to start it doesn't happen. This must push more fuel through or pressurise the fuel system or something.
Is there supposed to be a flashing light in the car when it is locked? I don't have one on mine ;-(

This happened to me about a week after I got my cc (Oct '01) and occasionally ever since. I called the AA out the first time it happened and I was extremely unhappy to say the least (I had a take-away pizza and it was going cold
).
The guy got out of his van and before he'd even looked at the cc he said he knew exactly what the problem was - apparently there's an intermittently occurring "glitch" in the engine management software that prevents enough fuel getting through for the engine to start. His remedy - and this has always worked first time for me - was to floor the accelerator and turn the ignition key until the engine catches, which in my experience it has always done immediately.
The weird thing is, I was assuming the engine was flooded so this would be the last thing I'd have tried.
It's probably down to an "undocumented feature" of the EMS software

Kirk,
Hmm... interesting idea. If Micro$oft really made engine management systems then your engine would take 90 seconds to start up and 5 minutes to shut down
Sorry, cheap shot from a Mac user.
