Hi,
Anyone suffered from this. Car starts ok but drove for 2hrs. Stopped car for 2mins then when I tried to switch on, engine vibrated heavier than usual but engine wouldn't catch !.Tried to start several times with same vibration/result ?. On approx 5th attempt car starts as usual. Car has been in for its first service around a month ago and everything seemed peachy ?. Has anyone been in the same boat ?.

Yep, thats my CC to a tee, even had the keys reprogrammed and a new transponder ariel fitted on saturday, tried it this morning,it took about 4 times to get it started, when it does start it's fine, wierd.

Gonna phone the dealer on monday to see what else they can suggest.

Lyndon, you have just been fitted with the new Peugeot pattented anti breakdown measure.

Well the more you drive these cars the more things go wrong. This way if you cant drive it, they can tell the press that nothing else has failed.

Lyndon,
Thanks for the reply. I felt it was as thou the immobiliser hadn't cut out. Suppose I better get the Pug booked into the dealers then !. Still, they can fix the non-flashing alarm light indication at the same time hopefully !!:(

the non-flashing light on the dash is easily fixed in about 10 mins (yep i've had mine done) if only they can do the same for the non-starting, although it started first time today about 4 different times.

I have had the same problem on mine a few times as well. Only happens when the engine is hot. I reckon it is the heat from the engine vapourising the fuel somewhere before it enters the cylinder block. I have found that if you turn the ignition on and wait for a couple of seconds before turning it to start it doesn't happen. This must push more fuel through or pressurise the fuel system or something.

Is there supposed to be a flashing light in the car when it is locked? I don't have one on mine ;-(

This happened to me about a week after I got my cc (Oct '01) and occasionally ever since. I called the AA out the first time it happened and I was extremely unhappy to say the least (I had a take-away pizza and it was going cold ;) ).

The guy got out of his van and before he'd even looked at the cc he said he knew exactly what the problem was - apparently there's an intermittently occurring "glitch" in the engine management software that prevents enough fuel getting through for the engine to start. His remedy - and this has always worked first time for me - was to floor the accelerator and turn the ignition key until the engine catches, which in my experience it has always done immediately.

The weird thing is, I was assuming the engine was flooded so this would be the last thing I'd have tried.

It's probably down to an "undocumented feature" of the EMS software ;)

U can only flood the engine by pumping the gas. Keeping your foot to the floor opens up the air intake and helps evaporate trapped excess fuel. This is usually a fix for flooding

when the car is locked then deadlocked the hazard light on the dash should flash red, if it doesn't just pop it back to the dealer, about a 10 min fix

Thanks Lyndon.

I didn't realise there were deadlocks. Nothing in the manual and the dealer didn't tell me!

Luckily it works.

Justin - the old "undocumented feature" of the software...the catchcry for many a software developer...you don't think Microsoft developed the Peugeot EMS do you?

All,
Thanks for the replies. Lyndon ref alarm light are you saying that this only comes on when the car is deadlocked ?(mines ok when I do this). However I'm taking my car into Peugeot because the light doesn't come on when just "locked" with remote. Please can you clarify ?.

Kirk,

Hmm... interesting idea. If Micro$oft really made engine management systems then your engine would take 90 seconds to start up and 5 minutes to shut down ;) Sorry, cheap shot from a Mac user. ;)

So you're the Mac user! I always wondered what became of it. I've been programming computers for almost twenty years now and haven't seen one since 1986 (in college).
