Question for any of you:

In Australia, you know how we call a car by its year when we go to sell it / insure it etc.
eg 2001 Peugeot 206 CC, 1998 Ford Falcon etc.

Does that year refer to the year it was built, the year it was first registered, the year of its specifications, or something else?
MMMMMmmmmm Diablo!!!!!! :D :D

Good question Matt. Typically it's either build year or more often the date on the compliance plate. Build year can be found in the boot and compliance plate under the bonnet.

Are you thinking of selling?

In Australia it is usually the date on the compliance plate so I would say 2003.

My experience is that when you buy they say the year is the compliance plate and when you sell it's the build date.

Bit like buying/selling currency ...you always get the worse rate whichever side of the transaction you are on.

I suggest that you tell the insurance company the date that you bought the car and that it is new. They'll have a procedure for it.

Sorry about the previous post and my comment that the car is new...error on my part.

Just tell them the information and let their procedure work it out for you.
