Buy an Import CC?

I've got a 1.6 cc but it's in for some (more) warranty work. The dealer has given me a 2.0SE to drive around in till mine's fixed. I love the 2.0 and am not looking forward to getting mine back!

How much and how reliable are 2.0 imports? Are they avaliable straight away? Am I likely to get as many problems with it?

Has anyone got an import 2.0? Or sold one? I heard there may be problems when you come to sell it.

I paid over 16k for mine (leather, sp grille etc etc). I could still get 13k (I hope) for it, so am thinking of getting the far better 2.0.

What do you reckon?

Yep, I bought mine from Motorpoint Derby for Â£13k plus road tax/plates/warranty etc - all in about Â£13500. Trade Sales in Slough are about a grand more (I think) but they have them on the forecourt (I was there a couple of weeks ago).

When I bought mine, I didn't have much choice of colour - black, blue or silver - and leather wasn't available, although the range is much better now. Both supermarkets are box shifters - so don't expect any of the niceties that a main dealer can offer eg test drives or p-exs (not that you need them but now you understand what I mean).

But I know what you mean about residual values - but it doesn't bother me as I intent to run mine into the ground (I've started with the passenger side first! Joke - had a prang

)

I've only had minor niggles, all sorted under warranty at my local dealer, without any problems. Warranty is shorter - 2 years now I think, not 3 that Pug UK offer. Oh and I avoided the metallic red as it's not a standard UK colour.

Just bought mine (so recently I haven't paid the VAT yet), 2.0CC SE in black with black 'n' red leather for around Â£13,600 inc VAT, registration and a Â£200 channel tunnel fare

Got it from Calais Nord Automobiles -- their website is at www.cna.peugeot.fr and when you phone them ask to speak to Aude Thomas.

I was so shocked at how much I could have saved by buying an import, that was one of the reasons I sold my UK main dealer CC. Now I've skipped the normal 6 month wait and saved Â£2k by buying an SLK import.

Other Extras but I guess I'd take them off this one and put them on the new car (like morette quads, parking sensor, sp grille etc).

I brought my SE via jamjar.com....saved a bomb, no hassle, all import documents etc etc was sorted by them and after 3 months it was delivered to my door with not one problem..

I went for moonstone + black leather and saved over 3k on the price ha ha!!!

I used to say DONT DO IMPORTS

but as there are so many on the market now I dont think that it really matters any more.

I would only suggest that if you do buyan import that you use your credit card as you have extra backing if there are any problems.

Warranty is indeed 2 years now by law. But you may be interested in

I have just taken an extended warranty out on my M reg fiesta (I love warranties) and the cover is quite good at a very good price.

Go and see what your dealer will give you for your car, dont tell them that you want an import.

Here is the lie, er I mean mistruth.

Tell them that you want a new 2.0 SE but cant afford it for 6 months as you are about to buy a new house. Ask them if they will buy your car off you for a good price. Then suggest that they sell you a traded in banger for say Â£200 that you will run around in until you have moved and have got the money sorted for the new car.

I am sure the little salesmans greed will work here to your advantage in 2 ways.

1 - He gets rid of a banger that quite often cost them money to shift.
2 - He thinks that he has a nice easy sale ready with no hard work to do.

Just dont order the new car, well not from them anyway. Cash their cheque for you old car and smile that you have got one over a car dealer.

I didn't realise there would be much difference between the 1.6 and the 2.0!

Imports are def the way to go m8.

I got mine from the same place as Carl and it is so easy! In fact easier than getting it from here! And I saved about Â£3500! 2.0 SE, leather

At the time we started investigating a CC there was a wait of several months from a UK dealer anyway. :rolleyes:

Well my importing experience has been interesting

I would advise that you get the importer to confirm in writing the entire car specifications

Although I did this via email, I still ended up with a 206cc without a sport pack, even though it was supposed to have it

I used micronetshowrooms, who I wouldn't recommend, as the directors are going to court on a 2million fraud charge!!

Only managed to get Â£200 refund, which isn't fantastic considering the sports pack will cost over Â£600 to fit

(Bought a 1.6S Moonstone on the road at Â£12,897 -Â£200 for missing sports pack)

What sort of crap are you smoking?

Do you think that imported cars are somehow different?

Do you think that imported cars aren't built on exactly that same production track as the car you've got?

Or are you just trying to protect your residual and persuade yourself that you're not an arse for having paid UK dealer prices?
