So what do you lose when you install a new head unit?

Is it just the radio information and the ability to increase volume and change channel from stalk?

Do you lose the mpg reading, how much petrol you have left and temperature.

Its just the radio information that is lost and the ability to increase/decrease volume and change channel from stalk.

Other readings such as mpg, temp and petrol remain displayed.

Nice one mate.

So there really isnt much point getting a Sony HU after all.
Do you know if you can get a seperate stalk for Alpine HU?

Hmmm, not to sure about a seperate stalk for an Alpine HU, as i installed a Sony HU in mine. But according to other threads it is mentioned that brands like Alpine, Kenwood, Sony etc have some form of adapter that you can purchase.
