Ive got two 10" starsound subs in the boot aswell as my amp and a cap.
The problem is that you dont want your speakers playing upwords the reason for this is as follows:
Allowing your sub to play in the longest dimention possible is the key to enhancing Standing Waves within the car, a Standing wave is a soundwave wich bounces between two parallel surfaces, this could be door to door, roof to floor or idealy firewall to bootlid. To calculate the frequency at wich the standing wave would peak in your car take half the speed of sound and devide it by the longest demention ie.
The speed of sound is aroun 340m/s and lets say your car is 2.8m from floorwell to the bootlid then your peak would be at 60Hz. Secondly you do not want the sub itself to close to the rear preferably 1/3 to the rear.

The problem is you cant have the subs playing towards the rear because they wont fit between the roof and the boot floor when you open the roof; you also dont want them laying on their backs firing upwords for this would sound unimpresive.:yuck:

What I did was to fit a box to hold the subs that is flat enough to fit between the roof and the floor when the roof is open and wide enough at the base to stand upright when the roof is locked giving me better sound when driving with the roof. Stop it from falling over using velcro or other straps.

NB
The most important aspect of any sound system is the quality install itself (like the cabling used etc) aswell as the quality and volume of the inclosure in wich you fit the sub.

Im thinking of fitting an inclosure that would have the subs firing backwods permanantly I will have to substitute my two 10" subs with four 8" subs.

I hope this helps Vibe makes exclant subs BTW.
