My mum has a 206cc with 1.6 engine, and recently she was driving when the temp gauge went right up and started bleeping.
I went to look at the car and the engine was definitly not overheated.
After letting it stand over night I checked it in the morning, as soon as you start the engine from stone cold the temp gauge goes straight up just just below the red, so its definitly not actually overheating.
This morning I went to fit a new coolant temp sensor, and noticed that even when the engine is off and the key out, the guage is sitting just below 90!?
As soon as you turn the key to get the ignition on (before starting the engine) the gauge moves up to just below the red.
I have fitted the new sensor and it hasnt made any difference atall
I have searched the forum and cant seem to find any definitive answers apart from afew people saying theirs was reading high and replies saying try a new coolant sensor.
One thing I did notice, someone said the sensor was green, the one Peugeot gave me was blue, and matched in part number what I believed to be it too!
The one I replaced was between the engine and battery, I just had to remove the air intake pipe between the airbox and throttle body to get access to it.
I am now wondering if they gave me the right sensor
Thanks in advance for any help or ideas
