Hello all, New member and my misses is a new owner of a 99 206 GLX. Yesterday I was installing a new radio/DVD unit for her, but found that who ever owned the car in the past bogged some cabling in to the stereo ISO cables. I'm guessing as they had a unit that wasn't ISO. Anyway, on my troubles I came across one that had been connected into the purple supplying the constant battery voltage. While removing this cable I forgot to disconnect the battery and it touched and discharged onto to a screw/fixture. The cable promptly went dead. It was spliced into a yellow cable at the bottom right connection of a port that is second from the left under the steering wheel (IF that makes any sense) A pic can be supplied later when I get home. Just wondering what that yellow cable was supplying constant power for so I might try replace the fuse/find the reason why it is now dead.
The other thing of this is that the bogged cable was supplying power to the Multi function display as well (thought the purple cable). So now it is not working. Thus the radio is not working. I took the cover for the MFD off and it came on one of the times by it self with no "extra" wiring (But before the discharge happened). Great I thought and put the cover back on, then it went off and hasn't come back on, tired fiddling the connection about, but nothing so far. Searching the site I found a old thread along the same issue and he was told a new display may be needed. Is this the case? If so, how much can a display be? Anyone on here got one that I can "borrow"? lol If any further chassis number is needed I can post it when I am home from work.
Also a few steering problems but that is for an other thread
