Hi there,

When I parked my car on the drive Friday I accidentally knocked the wiper arm. This happens some time when I'm reaching for the ignition. The wipers came on but then as they were in motion I turned the ignition off and removed the key. The wipers then finished their one-wipe and I got out. I remember this because if you do this on my wife's car the wipers immediately stop in whatever position they are in when you switch the ignition off.

Anyway... now my wipers don't work at all, including the screen wash!

The only thing that works on the right hand stalk is the mode select button on the end of the stalk that changes between date, distance travelled, distance to refuel etc.

i) If I pull the right stalk towards me the screen wash does NOT work.
ii) When I move the stalk fully down for a quick wipe the wipers do NOT work.
iii) When I move the stalk to the auto position the LED screen does not show "AUTOMATIC WIPING ACTIVE" like it did before.
iv) I've tried moving the stalk all over the place, jiggling it around etc, switching the ignition off, waiting a few mins and switching it back on. There's no ice (it's not that cold in Newcastle.. yet).

Any ideas what this problem could be caused by? Last year I had a new COMM 2000 unit fitted because the air bag light was permanently on. Could this be the COMM 2000? Could it be a fuse?

Any feedback you can provide will be greatly appreciated and I'll post back to the forum to help others when we get a solution.

Cheers - GeordieLad

U P D A T E...

I've just been out and checked fuse No 11 (15A) under the dash. It looks fine.

While I was there I checked every single other fuse both under the dash and in the engine bay. They all look fine.

So, it looks like its not a fuse.

Any other suggestions?

Hi GeordieLad

What year was your car registered?

If it was around 2000 then its most likely that the stalk is faulty, if you look around this grate sit than you will find that there was a common fault with the stalks around that year.

Hope this helps
