Hi guys,

Just about to buy a 206CC 1.6s 52 Plate, and am going to do a couple of mods to it. I want some chrome headrest hoops(?) as seen here..

I found 1 auction on eBay, I'm after the real Mccoy, no cheap crap.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! :)

Welcome!

As far as the hoops go, there are cheaper ones out there but I would only buy from Peugeot personally. At the end of the day the hoops are there as a safety feature as well as to look good, I wouldn't trust the third party ones with my life.

Spend some time checking out the other areas of the forum, theres loads of helpfull advice about CC ownership.

Hi

This is my first post in years!

The hoops don't really serve any real purpose as the A pillar and the boot are the only contact points with the ground should the car roll while the roof is down, hence ebay chrome hoops are just as good.

Have fun with your CCs - I miss mine.

Hi guys, I just registered to ask the same thing.

I take it you still order them from Peugeot then? Any idea on price?

Are they DIY fittable?

Many thanks.

Main dealer told me that the hoops rise in the of the car turning over:/ When the car tilts to a certain angle they rise up to protect the occupants;)

Nope, they lied. They are simple metal tubes bolted to the bodywork.

I'm afraid I take anything a main dealer says with a pinch of salt. The employees are obviously targeted to increase sales by telling you that you need stuff that isn't really necessary, and when you do ask for detailed answers, so often you find they don't really know their stuff.
That goes for other manufacturers' dealers too. Give me a good indy any day. When you find one, stick with them.

Why is it that essexracing & some ebay sellers say 'These hoops are not intended as a rollover safety device'. Is that because the standard ones are or some other reason:/

I suppose they are just trying to protect themselves from any potential claim for damages.
No.

Now at home & i've looked right through it & can't find any mention of it  I'm gonna go back there tomorrow with handbook & ask him to show me ;) I've found this but i think this is for the 207cc:/

i spoke to a third salesman today & he wasn't sure:/ He couldn't find a 206cc brochure:( So i said ok i'll go to the parts dept & compre the 206 against the 206. Looking on the parts diagrams the 207cc shows a spring & other parts that are needed to push the hoops up. But on the 206 there is nothing:rolleyes: So it looks like they are not rollover/ safety bars . When i got home i rang the dealers that had told me they would raise up when the car hit a certain tilt angle:/ & told the sales manageress that she needs to update her sales team especially in this age of litigation.
