just got my car back from garage today (had front wheel bearings and ball joints replaced) and when i got it back i took it for a drive and if i ease on the brake slightly, when its nearly ready to stop it makes a noise, the noise is like when you blow over a pop bottle the bottle makes a whistling noise, i havent had chance to look at it yet, it may be that i just need to top up brake fluid or something silly like that, but has anyone any ideas what it could be or experienced the same problem? i changed my disks and pads all round 2 months ago too so i know they are nearly new.

Cheers

If the noise is from the passenger side in front of the glovebox it could be the brake servo developing a leak. Has been known Ains. Several posts on the subject here. Do a search. Check your brake fluid though by all means, which you'll have done recently when you renewed your brakes, and so should be spot on.

i will check brake fluid when i go out in a bit, a lot can happen in 2 months with a peugeot lol, if it is the brake servo is that expensive to replace?? it sounds like its coming from the middle, but it prob is coming from the passenger side if other people have had this. it doesnt do it all the time just when i ease on this brakes really gently. My peugeot will be brand you by the time ive fixed everything.

It would be a couple of hundred pounds I guess, if it is the servo diaphragm, see

Do a forum search on "servo"

I heard from an honest pug techie that said theres a 50/50 chance that brake pads from peugeot will make a noise.

Had mine all changed a year ago and a few months afterwards they started making a noise for a few weeks, then stopped and have been quiet ever since.
