Good Afternoon all
Tomorrow amn looking at a 206 CC to possibily buy. The car is 2004, with 36k on the clock. I have joined this forum and read with interest lots of the post - especially about roof problems.
Stating the obvious the roof is my main reason for buying - I have become a bit of a fresh air fiend and want to drive on any possible day open to the elements - even in winter with the heater on full !
So - what are you going to advise ? Those who have had these cars for years - can I expect roof problems from the off ? Is there a milage point where possible problems start ?
It would seem lots of problems are easily sorted with the help found here - would that be the case ?
If the roof does get stuck and is sorted - does it then work fine or do you need to go to dealer to re-set ? I ask this as my last car was megane cabby and if that got stuck it had to go to the dealer s- £41.00 a time.
The car is known to me - the current owner says no problems with the roof whilst he has owned it and I have no reason to think otherwise as we have worked together for last 3 yrs.
I really like the car - any advise would be very much appreicated .
sharen
shall I shall I not ?

For me, if I was buying off a friend I dont think I would need to ask anybody else, if it drives well and no major feelings/noises especially if you have worked together for 3 years and trust him. Its always wise to get someone experienced to look over a car but I guess it is just pot luck for things going wrong and I guess you would be here all day trying to clarify what could go wrong. Understand roof to be a concern as its the major selling point, had mine since March and touch woood no probs as yet, I guess its just a matter of crossing that bridge when you come to it so to speak.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I am sure there is a thread for re-setting roof after doing it manually with 2 white knobs, turning? I can not be sure as not needed this as of yet
Although reading this forum has made me jitter, everytime i get in my car I wonder if anything will go wrong, and when I put the roof down I am always on edge until its back up and I'm clipping the latches.
Good luck and post some piccies if you go ahead

DONT DO IT!! cOSTLY
This WAS my first email (which i have sent three times now) ......
and i need to know if there is anyone out there can advise, me. I had my first 206 CC in 2004 and to make a long story short it had to be sold on as i had so much trouble the various problems. I dutifully bought a second one, this time an automatic in 2006, all was going well when the car was recalled due to a gear box fault... didn't bother me in the least, it went in, i got a hire car, it came out and didn't bat an eye lid. Until!!!
Late last year i was getting funny messages, at first as the car seemed to be fine i didn't take much notice, think the first message was something like.... xxxxx economic fault..........then I started getting the 'Automatic Gear fault' car seemed fine, but then it started to jolt while cruisng at about 80kph, like the gears were not engaging or dropping. Early this year i contacted my peugoet dealer and they said i would need to get various stuff done asap or it could get serios, i got the work done to the tune of 1000 euro...... I'm not at all happy, one cos of the cost and two l learnt that when they recalled the car, they actually replaced the whole gear box. i asked them if this problem was a direct link with what had to be done this year and well in short they skirted round the subject.
Has anyone been experiencing any similar faults. I asked why it was happening and they told me I was unlucky!!
Hello like..... Would love to hear from other 206 CC owners. I want to lodge a complaint but I need to do my home work first. Was very surprised to find this site.... pleasantly i might add.... Wanie

Sharen,
Just make sure you read the Owner's Manual thoroughly from front to back, before you use the car.
They are very susceptible to "self-inflicted" errors by new owners.
Especially the operation of the roof.
Ours is an 05 model and we've had no problems with the roof, but we are very careful to operate it exactly as instructed in the handbook. Don't touch anything else during the roof sequence.

And to counterbalance the argument 9 years of CC ownership and still a happy chap. I am not the sort of person who keeps a car because it’s unreliable and the CC doesn’t exactly get driven like a limo. I have promised myself that if it should fail me I will treat myself to another car and keep it as a Garden ornament. Every week trailing through Pistonheads wondering what will replace it and yet it soldiers on no matter what I chuck at it.

I have a 2004 Allure Auto and it has not had any problems with the roof.
Only lesson I have painfully learnt is don't undo catches, then get out the car to pull the boot blind over, then get back in and cut your head open on the open catches.
Also be aware that if you get a puncture and run on it without realising you will eventually shred the tyre. There is no spare and you will be stranded.
