I have a 2002 206 cc 1.6.. Its stuck in economy mode and won't start. Im pretty sure this was caused by me trying to start the car while the chip in the remote fob wasnt in the key when i tried to start the car ( the key was pulled apart as i was getting the battery for it...temporary insanity !!!)...Anyways to cut a long story short, now the engine turns over but wont start and "economy mode active" is displayed on the screen..... Any input greatly apreciated...

Hi ovaboost and welcome. Sorry to hear of your problem. I don't know if this will help but, have you tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and seeing if that clears the Eco Mode message?

Hi Thar, thank you for your reply. I have tried that a few times, but still have the same problem... Its realy bugging me now and it looks like it will have to be towed to a Pug dealer unless someone knows of any other things i could try...

I assume your remote control is working?

If the car's battery is 8 years old then a brand new battery should cure your problem.

Hi GrandadMonkey, thank you for your responce.
Yes the remote is now working. I also charged the battery with a quality Ctec charger and it seems to turn over the engine nicely...Do you think its possible that that the battery is still faulty?

If it is in economy mode it will most likely be because of your car battery. If it is 8 years old it is about due for a brand new one. The original one has done well.

I suggest you search this forum for "economy mode". I recall that another forum member had a similar problem to yours. You should find that thread which may help you. A new battery cured their problem if my memory serves me correctly.
