Speakers suddenly stopped working - fuse?

Post by teachers pug »

Had engine off with radio on, turned ignition and speakers both cut out.

Radio display and functions still apparently working but no sound at all. Radio was not hugely loud. Is bog standard factory fitted with front speakers only.

Manual not clear what fuse to change (if it's even a fuse problem, which is my best guess).

Sick of taking car to garage for lads to go "it's French mate, electrics always go first, forty bar please". Would like this to be a problem I can fix myself with 5 minutes and a £5 trip to Halfords.

Ta.

Won't be fuse if speakers don't work
Could have blown channels on head unit
Or speakers

Thanks.

Thought about blown speakers but thought it was odd both went at once when they don't really get stretched. Thought it was maybe a fuse somewhere as it was obviously triggered by the ignition.

If it is the head unit am I just looking at replacing it then, or is it fixable / worth fixing?

If it's the headunit prob not worth fixing
I'd just buy another and pop it in
If you can get hold of another you could test your speakers then :trumpet:

Sounds like a fault with the head unit to me.
