Hi My W reg 1.1 has developed a strange problem
this happens maybe 3 times a week

Ive had spark plugs renewed and coil pack checked
only thing ive not checked as i dont know how is the Fuel pump

Per Honest John:

Misfiring problem with 1,150cc models could lead to spiked catalytic converters (see 'Recalls'). Make sure central locking system works (see above). Reports of 1,150cc 206s still being sold with faulty ECUs and a shortage of chips to repair them in March 2001.

Recalls
1,150 cc models only, 1,000 cars affected: TSB issued in spring 2000 to replace ignition coil pack, leads and plugs owing to misfire, but correction packs only supplied at rate of 20 a month.

How did you check the coil pack? I'd still suspect that if you've replaced the spark plugs with correct specification new ones.

Another possibility is the fuel you're using. Are you using decent stuff (e.g. Texaco, Shell, BP, Mobil, Total) which contains cleansing additives, or are you using supermarket petrol?

Finally, when was the air filter last renewed? Have you checked that?

How many miles has the car done, and what sort of use does it get?

Welcome to the forum by the way.
