Post by AllenConquest »

Has anyone got this unit installed? I'm looking for something to give me bluetooth and iphone connection.

Thanks,

Allen

I put a DEHP700BT in my 2 litre cc about 3 years ago. Does have bluetooth hands free, audio streaming and IPod (dont know about iphone unless you're using it for audio streaming, but works with my sony X1 and htc desire hd).

The important extra item you have to select is the correct instrument stalk loom harness so that you have all the correct controls (track search, volume etc), and the car's display shows the right stuff on it as well. This is a separate item and is also dependent on the model year. Mine is 2006 and I used a Pioneer CADPI030 which connects the car's system (VANbus I believe) to the pioneer IP Bus connector on the head unit:

http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_prod ... o=CADPI030

which was compatible with my pioneer head unit, but you would need to check whether your model supports IP bus or look for an equivalent. The outfit above were pretty good, and bought both the head unit and loom from them.

One more thing to note is that if you have a JBL speaker package there is an extra link wire that is on the supplied harness that has to be made (this is for remote output and from recollection the cables are there but not connected). When I first installed it I had all the controls but no sound until I connected these.

It's far better than the standard crap that was fitted when the car was new, particularly with the jbl system. Also, am able to run navigation software on the phone while streaming music from it to the head unit.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Doughnut, I saw your post about the pioneer and had the same thoughts. The unit you used doesn't seem to be available now. Do you think the DEH-7300BT model would be okay: http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_prod ... =DEH7300BT

I have contacted In-Car Express and will see what they say.

Does the radio volume get muted when the navigation announcements are made?

How do I tell if I have the JBL speaker package?

Thanks,

Allen

I think that as long as it has a compatible stalk harness available for it then should be ok, but check with in-car express to see what the compatible loom might be. They'll also want the model year I would imagine as early ccs didn't have vanbus (I think pre-2002 but not 100% sure).

My unit is old hat now and hasn't been available for a couple of years unless you can get one on ebay, but the 7300 is a lot cheaper than mine and looks better. One thing handy about the 700 however is that you can change display colour to match the car's display. I've attached pics including microphone position.

I haven't used the GPS in a while so not sure but will try it later. Don't remember if it comes through the head unit or from the phone when music is playing.

JBL is fitted to all allures after 2005 and you can't miss it, there will be a subwoofer in the boot that extends along the width and the jbl logo will be inside the doors around where the mirrors are.

Pics don't look like they come through, may try later if you need them.

I don't seem to have a JBL system. Pioneer model I mentioned doesn't seem to support bluetooth music streaming, it's only for phone calls. I'll need to search again.

I tested the head unit with my Sony Ericsson X1 running tom-tom and voice commands come through head unit while music playing. Music isn't muted but I can hear the instructions no problem.

I contacted Dynamic Sounds asking for recommendations for a replacement head unit and they came back with 2 suggestions:

and

http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/sony-mex ... 15174.html

The JVC one looks good and has good reviews. Both can be wired up using the Connect 2 system to be used with the stalk controls.
