My 206cc 1.6l manual gearbox on a 54 plate has just started to make a whining noise from the gearbox / drive shafts when either accelerating or decelerating using the engine. It seems independant of which gear or engine speed. Does anybody know of a common fault with gearbox bearings or drive shafts or bearings etc? The car has only done 25000 miles from new.
Any feedback on solutions to similar problems would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation.

Re: gearbox whining under load
Have you checked the drive shaft boots for splits, hence loss of grease?
