Misfire mystery

Post by max206 »

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forum and I already have to thank you for all the pages you wrote in these years, they helped me a lot looking into my problems with my little 206 1.4 (2001), Sagem ECU

I'd appreciate any comments of the issues I'm having with my 206..
It all started with a continuous misfire (the yellow light kept blinking/beeping all times). The mechanic did a quick ODB scan and the car was reporting.. a misfire (smart ah!). The electrician then came in and did a second scan and a "communication error between ECU and Fuse Box" was reported.

The coil pack was replaced, however the problem is still there, the warning lights blinks all times and i feel a huge loss of power (the car wouldn't go more the 70 mph).

My new ODB scanner reports me a Injector problem (P0200), however I now feel that sometimes the engine comes back to 4 cylinders for some time before going back to 3.

I wanted to put an oscilloscope and check the injectors signal, however it looks like this is not an easy job as cables are all hidden.

I'm wondering, do you guys have had a similar experience? Is it possible to scope the injectors easily? it's a nightmare, I do want to keep my 206 alive and healty!

Thanks!

P200 is a "catch all" injector circuit fault as opposed to "injector circuit fault no1 cyl" etc:
In my experience, the most common cause of this type of fault across all manufacturers is a bad earth connection or multi plug connector depending on how the system is controlled.
I think yours is switched at the double function relay, so I would start there. Have you tried firing the injectors through your scan tool one-at-a-time? If not try this first to see if that reveals anything.
Cheers Col.
