Yes the difference is that central locking just locks the doors. Deadlocking disables the pull up things on the doors. This means that if you leave you roof down someone cant lean in and unlock the car doors.

Rob,
Can you confirm that the deadlocks on the Peugeot are different to the ones used on Ford Mondeos? I'm asking as I had the company Mondeo parked outside my house the other day and came out in the morning to find that someone had stolen the stereo (only any good in another Mondeo !). What flabbergasted me was the method of entry, the car was alarmed !. The scrotes had pierced a hole beside the barrel of the lock which disabled the alarm + opened the door. Totally contradicting my understanding of deadlocks ?. Iâ€™m hoping you can reassure me that the Peugeot Alarm/deadlocks are vastly superior to Fords and cannot be beaten so easily. Or do I have to resort to sleeping in my 206cc with a baseball bat !

I doubt if many alarms are safe from well organised criminals such as these. :sad:

soory been away .. regarding the sportsbag queury. it was in the back seat. I know not to open the boot with the alarm on. basically just reached over and plonked it in.
I'm sure that the alarm does work wqith the roof down because it was the same for my 306cab.

Strange, mine definately doesnt work with roof down. I must have looked very odd yesterday leaning into the car, waving me arms... Nothing, am sure the manual it says somthing about to switch off the interior sensors to press that awkward button, unless roof is down and they are automatically disabled. Will go and check tonight, even if no-one else is interested... i am now.

mines definitely doesn't work with the roof down and it says it shouldn't in the manual.

i checked as i was worried 1st time i was gonna leave it with roof down.

Is this another pre/post 2002 difference? Mine definitely switches the alarm off when I've got the roof down, and my car is a 2002 model. When I picked the car up I was given a different (incorrect) description by the salesperson that I needed to turn it off with the button inside, so I guess this might apply to pre-2002 models?

Nope - Ive got a Sept 2001 CC and my alarm switches off when the roof is down !

Well the logic is they've obviously fitted an ultrasonic alarm which will go off as soon as anyone breathes near your car instead of a microwave alarm which would work nicely with the roof down.
