206cc coolant level high

Post by ulickburke »

My daughters 206cc intermitentlly indicates coolant temperature level high, the sensor has been changed twice, once by the Peugot main dealer, the thermostat and the radiator has been changed, why I dont know as the coolant is not overheating. The temperature gauge goes to hot and the fan starts and the stop on the dashboard flashes. it is then just as likely to go back to normal. The car is very difficult to start when this happens. Peugot (Robins and Day) now want to replace the wiring loom and if that doesn't solve the problem replace the ECU. You can imagine this will cost thousands, they state as its an intermittent fault their diagnostic computer cannot pinpoint the problem and they are component changing. The car is an 05 and has 36000 miles on the clock. anyone with any ideas? Regards ulickburke.

I don't know whether this will help as you say the fan is cutting in okay. Peugeot 206s do often have a problem with corroding relay contacts.

I suppose Robins & Day think its ok to make a fortune out of you replacing expensive parts willy-nilly but it is hardly fair on you.

What model is it?
Have you measured the coolant temp independently with a thermometer? You need to verify if it's overheating or not regardless of what the gauge says.
Cheers Col.
