Advice please, roof won't open

Post by kit325 »

The roof for my 2004 roof stop working. When you un-clip the roof catches, you will hear the beep. Pull the roof switch windows lower down without any problem at all. I can hear the hydraulic motor running for 15 seconds, boot won't open at all and u will hear the beep indicating something wrong.

I have checked the hydraulic pump seems like there's still have 3/4 of oil in the hydraulic oil reservoir. I will be grateful if any one can tell me what what to lookout for. :hmm:

Cheers!

Check the pressure relief valve is nipped up and not loose. Labelled "A" in diagram

Many thanks for the advice. I have try to tighten up the valve, spray WD40 on the boot release mechanism but it make no difference. What will be the next thing i should try?

The roof cycle is starting correctly but when it gets to the pump moving anything it all stops there, which is why I suggested the valve.
If the pump is producing hydraulic power, the next thing that should happen is the boot latches release, so next look for broken release cable or a faulty valve solenoid. If you don't know which cables I mean, check the roof operation video here The cables are shown at 4:44 mins into the vid and the solenoid at 4:10
Good luck

PS. Don't use WD40. It just washes the grease out.
Cheers Col.

Update!

At last some decent wheather yesterday, manage to fixed the roof by carrying out a manual roof opening/closing procedure (release pressure relief valve during the operation.). The roof now are back in working order!

Many thanks Capncol, your advice on pressure relief valve is bang on.
