intermittent fault with heater
I have an intermittent fault with my heater, it either blows really hot air or lukewarm. Any ideas why?

What car do you have? Does it have air-con or climate control?

Sorry about the questions but I'm trying to think this through. When did you last renew your pollen filter? Is the present one clean? How many miles has the car done? What is the normal temperature that you see on the water temperature gauge when the engine is fully up to temperature? Do you normally keep the air-con switched on or off? When did you last have an air-con service?

Re: intermittent fault with heater
Hiya, I only had the car a few months so I have no idea when pollen filter was changed or if it's clean or indeed even where it is!!!! normal temperature is about half way at 90. normally air can on apart from when it's blowing out cold air or boiling hot air then I have to turn it off. Also no idea when or indeed if aircon has ever been serviced. And finally it has about 38,000 miles on clock
Am hoping it is something cheap and simple!!!!

If you open the bonnet you'll see the pollen filter behind the right hand side suspension turret. It just lifts out (will require a wriggle as it is angled).

If it is filthy and blocked it will affect the air flow to the heating and ventilation system. Replace it with a new one if it is. They don't cost much. £9.98 + VAT from a Peugeot dealer.
Your coolant temperature is normal. Is the car a 1.6 or a 2.0 litre?

Ok. I hope they're familiar with the Peugeot 206. Are they Peugeot specialists? Did the pollen filter get checked?

Re: intermittent fault with heater
I'd change the pollen filter like GrandadMonkey suggests then get the air con pressure checked. It could be that the gas is low so the system is switching on and off automatically.
A/C needs checking every couple of years .... but people tend to not bother as "it's working, so why pay more" ... then they sell on the car and you get the problems

Re: intermittent fault with heater
You're welcome. Let us know how you get on. The pollen filter is dead easy to check yourself. If it is full of leaves, dust and debris you could vacuum it as a temporary measure and put it back in. Wouldn't take five minutes and would cost you nothing.

Heater problem solved along with intermittent warning lights coming on and then going off, sluggish starting - new battery appears to have solved all problems - thanks for all suggestions

Re: intermittent fault with heater
You never mentioned those other problems in your initial post.
Search this site for multiple problems like yours caused by a duff battery.
Thanks for feeding back the result though.
