206cc starting up problems

Post by Wildcatarmy »

hi all, new here, hopefully you might be able to advise on my problem.

We have a Peugeot 206cc 06 plate.

Car recently has had problems starting up in that, after its been for a drive if its parked up for say anything between 0 to a couple of hours, if we try and go out and start it up again, all Im getting is a single click noise. Its becoming pure pot luck in that I can take the key out and try again, sometimes again its just a click and other times the car starts up. When I just get the click a few times, the only way of starting is jumping it. Doesnt sound like a problem with the battery as its not failing to turn over or anything as its not got to that stage, merely just a single click noise.

Becoming a pain that Im having to find parking spaces on a hill incase I have problems so I cant make sure we can get away.

Car recently passed its M.O.T. so nothing brought up on that, anyone shed any light please ?

Thanks.

You need a new starter motor by the sound of it. Do check the battery connections, earth lead and lead to the starter motor first though.

There is a fault with the starter motor on some 04 and 05 reg cars which means that the starter motor won't work when it gets hot. The solution is a new starter motor.

I did read somewhere where someone replaced just the solenoid (or solenoid contacts) but I've only come across that once with a 206cc.
