Hi guys,
I've only had my 206 cc for around 3 weeks now though I am worried about the gears and clutch and just wanted to see if anyone knows what's going on. To start things off my gears don't make a whining noise or any other nice they make a clunk when go into gear but I'm guessing that's normal? Anyway today driving to work I have to stop half way up a hill on a main road due to a silly pheasant jumping out at me, there were cars behind me and I tried to put the car in first gear though even with the clutch all the way down and I was stationary it wouldn't budge into first gear it took me a few attempts and finally it gave in and let me go into gear. It has done this a few times and I red to keep trying to push it into gear and eventually it does. It doesn't make any noise while going onto gear it just simply is to hard to push. I also find this problem happens in reverse gear only sometimes and when the engine seems to heat up it slots in lovely. As I Sa it doesn't do this all the time only sometimes also my clutch squeaks while using it. Anyone have any ideas if it ha a problem I want to get it sorted right away as it only has a week left of warranty.
Thanks guys
You can make something idiot proof, but someone will just make a better idiot.
When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.
At 10 years old and on 57k miles, if your car has done mainly urban mileage, it may be that your clutch is wearing to the point that you need a new one. The clutch release bearing has been known to wear through the pressure plate fingers on cars used for mainly town journeys, especially if drivers sit with their foot on the clutch on hills, and at traffic lights, instead of using the handbrake and putting the car into neutral. The cure is a complete new clutch assembly including the release bearing.
I wonder whether the hydraulic fluid for the brakes and clutch has ever been renewed. It is often overlooked. It is recommended to renew hydraulic fluid every 2 years but it gets missed. A change of fluid and bleeding of the system could well improve matters if the clutch isn't on the way out yet.
