Squeeking Creaking & knocking

We have our 206cc for about a year now and over this period we have had a multitude of different noises coming from the rear end ,first there was the squeaking, when it warm outside it seemed worst so i got under the car, you could hear it squeaking when you bounced the rear end up and down but i could never put my finger on where it was coming from as these noises tend to travel so i soaked all the joints in wd40 which seemed to make it better for a while then it came back, but now its turned colder the squeaking has seemed to have disappeared but now we have a knocking coming from the back when we are on uneven road surfaces, the car has just passed its MOT so it cant be anything serious the exhaust seems to have quite a bit of play in it but i dont think its that i wonder if it could be the shock absorbers, if anyone out there has has any ideas it would be appreciated very much.

Shock absorbers are the first thing to check.
Early 206's had axle bearing failure. Still see it from time to time.

PS. Don't use WD40 as a lube. It washes out any grease and then dries out, so makes things worse. It also attacks rubber bushings.

Thanks very much for that as soon as i can ill get underneath and look how easy the shock absorbers are to take off unless there is a way to test them on the car, and ill remember that about the wd40.
