Radio: Out, CDC: Out - but radio and cd player is working

Post by Khrist »

As mentioned in the subject, when scrolling through the display it shows radio out and cdc out. I don't have a cd changer so that one is ok i guess but the radio/cd player is working just fine. But it doesn't seem to be connected to the display/computer. How is this connected?

Also I don't know if I have a trip computer or not or if it's just not working. Seems like a waste to just show date and time on the display.

Is it the original Clarion set?

Actually I'm not really sure. I guess it is because it fits the curvation of the dashboard with no loose dash trim. The remote control stick below the wiper stick is also working. The symbols for for example cd changer (multiple discs) and radio (sine wave) looks the same as the ones in the manual. However it could've been taken from another model/year.

It's a 2001 CC, 2.0. The unit has numbers 1-6 for radio presets. Btutons for Cd/radio/cd changer. It has a display on the head unit showin Rds info/track number etc.

ICE isn't really my thing so can't really help, but you should get the channels displayed in the MFD (Centre binnacle) You should also get other info by pressing the button on end of wiper stalk. Have you got the owners manual as it's all explained in there?
If not you can download it here
Cheers Col.

If the radio has a display it's not the original so will not work with the MFD. The original radios have no display for that reason. It may look the right shape, but that's because you fit an adaptor surround to fill in the gaps.

Ok. But there's no adapter around it. But it could've been taken from a 206 without mfd i guess.

Pulled the CD/radio out today. Every connector is connected at the back but there's one thin white cable from the bottom connector thats terminated in a three pin connector. This one's just taped to the cable stem.

The model is PU-2325A(B)

By the way, here's a picture of the CD in my CC:

Oops sorry ... that is an original ... that's the pre-mux type ... it's the mux version that doesn't have the display and uses the MFD.

That's the trouble with (a) getting older (b) doing two things at once (c) having a fleet of cars to look after and they are all different (two 206's: one older CC, one newer hatchback)

We replaced that particular headunit in the CC a few months back with a Sony unit as the CD kept holding onto the CDs ... wouldn't play them half the time either ... I don't think the remote stalk had a separate socket and runs off one of the blue/green/yellow plugs. I don't remember the MDF having anything to do with the original headunit either ... but most of the time when I'm driving the radio was off to hear the odd noises ... or it was getting a good run with the top down after working on it or pre MOT test.

Word of warning ... there are several different MFDs and remote stalks available .. some are pre-mux, some multiplex. Also check the number of wires and the colour of the plug on the end of the stalk if you decide to replace it (you have to take the steering column surround off)

I'll have to have a proper look at the CC when it's next on our drive ...
