Yes, I know it's not a CC problem but trying all my options
Getting a P0382 fault and car is stuck in limp mode.
It's suggesting the Glow Pug Circuit B ... and that seems to consist of the control unit on the battery cover and wire to the glow plugs. The latter is hidden under the air filter assembly and a pain to get to so I wondered if anyone had had this before and would care to share how it was fixed ... assuming that the car wasn't scrapped/set on fire!!

That's where I'm starting ... great place to put it on the back of the battery box ... so battery out, battery box out ... unclip wires, battery cooling pipe ..
It obviously looks fine and the wires look ok
Suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy a replacement ...

They cram so much into a small space, but whoever designed it didn't think of when it goes wrong. The gap between the engine bay and the cambelt cover on a 2.0 CC is ridiculous.
And for the HDi a lot of what should be simple things you have to strip some much off the car. The engine is just the wrong way around! In fact it is the wrong way around. Cylinder 1 is at the flywheel/gearbox end!

Phoned by local Peugeot dealer about the glow plug control unit and this is came as a surprise ...
I'd found an OEM unit on the web for £55 inc del and VAT ... which looked about the usual price if you compare them to others new units (apart from the one who wanted £101!) ... nearly ordered it but thought "I'd call Peugeot just because it would be interesting to see who much they wanted .... " plus it wouldn't be with me until the end of next week.
Surprised? You bet .... £54.23 inc VAT and it would be there to collect Tuesday!!

Glow Plug Control Unit duly replaced (part no 5981 38). One 5 pin connector and top heavy wires with bolt on ring tab connectors. Refitted to rear of battery box and battery replaced ... only a small amount of skin removed trying to replace the cable clips into battery box, etc.
Used the suggested battery reconnection process but didn't get any "bong" when turning on head lights, etc.
Switch on ignition through window with doors and bonnet shut and started engine. Fired up and one "ping" as the fault code was still registered. Checked fault codes and nothing! Cleared all fault codes as this also switches off the engine management light. Restarted engine and EML goes out properly.
Took if for a spin and full power, etc.
Reset clock and radio ... looks good after a 15 mile run down M40 and back late last night.

... and no power again. Fine Tuesday evening after re-fitting the glow plug controller. Full power (all 68 bhp!) and revs easily and smoothly.
Now slow to pick up the revs. Generally sounds strangled and struggles to pull although will rev over 2800 so not in limp mode and no EML light ...
No fault codes apart from one about the clutch pedal switch(!) P0704 I think.
Left battery disconnected tonight and will check around tomorrow for split hoses, etc. Will also check exhaust as I've heard diesels need this to create back-pressure.
Generally getting the right hump with this little HDi!
If it was a petrol I'd have a lot more options but being a diesel I'm running out of ideas ... and really need it sorted by Tuesday as my son needs car next week.

Next step ... a number of internet pages led to the cat ... as this isn't a major operation to remove I've pulled the unit off to find the internals rolling around inside!! It's like a ball about 4"-5" in diameter with one flat side. I assume the flat side should be at the bottom, but it rolls over so the ball is blocking the exhaust outlet.
No cat installed and unit engine revs freely ... it should do as there is nothing after the exhaust manifold (but not as noisy as you would think due to the low pressure the diesels produce) ... think I may have found the problems and expensive fix ...
UPDATE #1: cat core has collapsed ... it should be a cylindrical shape to fit the outer skin ... 106000 miles on, Citroen mechanic I spoke to is not surprised!!
UPDATE #2: My cat has had an enema! Otherwise known s a de-cat. The ball-shaped core that I was left with and was blocking the exhaust is no more ... car performance is back and can now drive up hills at more that 15 mph. It will get a new cat as and when I can find one in stock and not a rip-off prices ... range from £100 to £400!!
