Hi all,
I have a 2003 GLX, which I have had for a couple of months. I tried to lock the car this afternoon, and it wouldn't do it remotely. So after investigating, I realised the dash had the engine warning light, the battery light and the general warning light (the exclamation mark) all on. Then I realised the stereo, clock, heater and everything were all still lit up. After playing around and scratching my head for a bit, I found out that the only way to actually turn the car off was to press my foot down on the brake pedal!
This is obviously a major pain! I have jammed the pedal down with the jack so that the battery doesn't go flat, but I am really worried and would love to know what the hell is going on! I am pretty handy, so I'm hoping with a bit of a pointer I can take care of this myself, as it would seem to be some kind of electrical short.
Any ideas?!
Electrics wont turn off! (unless I press the brake pedal...)

Could this be a problem in the ignition switch?
Apparently your ignition is 'on', even when key is removed.
Brake pedal issue sounds like a mystery to me...

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, obviously it is. It's a 2003 1.4 206 GLX.
Manual gearbox. All I can think is it is messed up wiring; something shorting. I'll have to take it all apart and test it line by line.

Well as far as I'm aware they never made a 206CC GLXquintus wrote:Hi all,

They certainly didn't make a 1.4 206CC.quintus wrote:Yes, obviously it is. It's a 2003 1.4 206 GLX.
(hence the question)
So it's a 206 hatchback? This forum is for the CC model specifically, and as they didn't make a 206CC GLX, I had to ask if it was a Peugeot that we are talking about. Could have been a Ford for all I know, but we try to help where we can
Back to your question. assuming 206 1.4, I would start by checking the double function relay.
Cheers Col.
