Noise and vibration when starting cold

Post by PEUG1 »

I have a 1.6 engine. 2003
Driving on motorway about a month ago.
Stopped at service station and found ? hair/fibreglass sticking out of tailpipe
?box material
When starting engine cold there is a slight tractory noise or like a four stroke motorbike and vibration felt inside the car as if below seat area. Opened bonnet but engine does not seem to vibrate
Had quick fit check exhaust and they said needed middlle and back box pipes renewed.
Got same fitted but exact same noise until engine runs for 10 to 20 minutes.
Car drives smoothly despite this.
Any ideas please?

Sounds like you still have an exhaust blow . Who did the exhaust?

Sounds as if it is misfiring until it warms up.

Timing isn't adjustable. You should get a diagnostic machine plugged in, and that should point you in the right direct. Ask for a copy of the fault codes and post them here. If you tell us where you are, there maybe someone close by with the right equipment.
Cheers Col.
