does anyone know how I can change the gearbox oil in my wifes 206cc.
the car is a 2002 1.6 auto, its starting to be a little sluggish in its gearghanges, so thought I should check the gearbox oil level, but can find a way to check or top up the gearbox oil
thanks

Re: auto gearbox oil
You'll need to take out the battery and battery box. The filler plug is on the top near the linages from the poor picture I have in my Haynes manual. You add 0.5 litres then from underneath you remove the inner, smaller plug to release the excess oil. There is a double plug .. the larger outer one will let you drain it ... the smaller inner one is the one to loosen. Have something to catch it in obviously. Then start the car and leave it to idle until the oil starts pulling out. If no oil comes out, you need to add another 0.5 litres and start again! Close the level plug first, then top up. Refit the level plug with a new washer.
I'll try and scan in the page and make it available on this thread.

Re: auto gearbox oil
I'm hoping this helps ... the bit missing on the next page is simply saying "if it doesn't flow out check the engine is running, add a 2nd 0.5 litres and try again. Stop the engine and lock up the level check plug before topping up".

Re: auto gearbox oil
If the trans fluid is dirty, it's worth changing the fluid & filter

Re: auto gearbox oil
Haynes states 4.5 litres for drain and refill.
The drain plug is the larger of the two underneath so you take bot out at the same time. Warning ... gearbox oil is very smelly ...
