Temp Guage Flactuate around 90..

Post by coolbema »

Hi guys..
Im new to forum so sorry for any mistakes. Recently I had a problem with my Peugeot 206cc 1.6 2005, during oil change mechanic found a leaking coolant from limp assembly output (rubber gasket was broken). coolant temperature sensor also attached to it including different coolant hoses. I don't know how to load pics I tried :( .
Now after replacing that unit mechanic replace the coolant and bleeded the system instructed me to check the coolant level again in morning which I did. Problem started now when started the car in morning I usually leave the car few minutes for warm up, when I drove the car I noticed the gauge needle went to 90 then to 98 and in few seconds suddenly dropped back to 90 and stayed there few minutes after that it keep fluctuating between 90 to 98 depending on acceleration. If i drive the car with constant speed then its ok at 90 but if I accelerate or slow down the car the gauge goes above 90. I checked all connections, coolant level, relays, resistor, fan etc all seems to be fine problem started after replacing this unit.

NOTE: Before replacing this unit temp gauge stayed at 85c while driving now it stay sharp at 90 and fluctuate around 90c even while driving. :(

So it is not overheating? Is the coolant level staying stable between the max/min marks? It is normal for the gauge to go higher than the usual running temperature and then drop back as the thermostat opens. Did he put a different thermostat in it? If so it may be opening at a slightly higher temperature than the old one. If the car is not overheating why do you regard it as a problem?

What is limp assembly? - do not understand.

GrandadMonkey thanks for quick reply.
It seems not over heating. If car is idle the temp stays at 90 no matter how long car remain idle but while driving its seems to be making problem and also yes it is loosing coolant but very little or unnoticeable quantity even in weeks. I bought the part from Peugeot dealer and it is a complete set includes thermostat and coolant temp sensor. Im trying to load pics but don't know how to do please guide me how to load pics so I can load a pic of old part which was replaced. Limp assembly was written on box so I don't know the exact name of it.

Are you sure you haven't got a air-lock? Did you refill/bleed the system when you refilled it?

A part number would also help as we can look it up on servicebox
