I have just bought an 04 plate cc with 2 owners and fish and only 51k from new. I have just noticed that when all the lights are off in the day the front side lights light up when I push the break, and the rear brake lights all work, how ever as soon as it turn the side/main lights on the brake lights are all lit up. I would really appreciate some help.
Thank you

Re: Front & rear lights
Highly likely. Can you easily plug back in you old lights, even if they are just resting in the boot?
If so and your problem is solved, then you have your answer.

Re: Front & rear lights
If just gone to use the car and when the engine is turned on the rear brake/lights all come on without being turned on by the stalk.

Re: Front & rear lights
If it's just the brake lights that are coming on it's most likely the switch has come unplugged. Check underneath the glovebox (right-hand size if memory serves) and there's a plug cable. Make sure it's full connected - easily comes loose, especially if a passenger may have inadvertently hit it with their foot.

Re: Front & rear lights
I had a similar problem with aftermarket rear lights (when I had them) gone back to standard now. The problem was each of the bulbholders were connected to the wrong light. I swapped the bulbholders over and the problem disappeared/cured...just my experience. Hope u get it sorted. Good advice to test your old lights though! Good luck.

Re: Front & rear lights
All replacement lights should be "E" marked and a lot of Chinese ones aren't.yorkielassy wrote:I had a similar problem with aftermarket rear lights (when I had them) gone back to standard now. Re: Front & rear lights
The lights WERE E marked and certainly not from China.
Lights went through 2 MOT's fine before removal.
