Well after coming back from Halfords with my new Pioneer DEH-X3600UI stereo. I planned on driving back to Halfords to have them fit my new stereo for me only to find that my battery is dead. The lights on the dashboard appear but the clock display has been reset and is very dim. I tried cranking it and it seems it's a crank no start issue.
I tried looking for loose battery connections but they were all fine. I then tried putting on the headlights and they were very dim which meant it must be a battery issue. The funny thing is that the car was running fine the last couple of days not sure what could have happened to make it go dead any suggestions?

Re: My Pug has ran out of juice
If it is the original battery then it is 9 years old. If that is the case and you replace it then make sure you get the correct one for the 206cc. Make sure you use the correct disconnection and reconnection procedure too.

If it is not the battery, and the connections are ok then suspicion falls on the alternator.

Thanks Grandad I will be sure to print off that procedure and follow it to a tee. Will update once I have the new battery installed.

Check the earth cable from battery to gearbox .. they have a habit of corroding and breaking just when you least expect it. It connects the body about half way down too.

Expect Halfords to sell you the wrong battery if you go there ... you need the 190mm high one.

Re: My Pug has ran out of juice
I'm going to go to Euro car parts to get my new battery I have entered in my reg on their website and it's found the correct batteries for my car and they are all 190mm so I know i'm getting the right one as suggested by you guys. Update for you lot just now I jumpstarted my car and the car fired up first time so I can ignore the starter motor being the issue and it seems like it's a battery fault in the end. Just warmed up my car for over 15 mins and then took it for a quick drive up the road gosh I missed driving her.

Another thing I noticed as soon as I start the ignition I get the anti pollution fault appearing on the display but no error codes are present and then it goes away any ideas why this is coming up? thanks.

Re: My Pug has ran out of juice
There is a tendency for spurious faults and warnings to come up when the battery is on its last legs. I'd sort out the battery issue first then deal with anything else afterwards if it still persists.
