Rear banging nosie

Post by Flower<3 »

Hello,

I have a problem "as always" :(

my 206cc has been making a banging/clonking and sometimes trembling noise from the rear, when going over uneven surfaces. not even when I'm driving at speed! its very loud when going over pot holes!
bushes?
springs?
axle!?

Any advise would be very valuable, and how much you think it may cost.

Could be one of the above, or a shock absorber. Get someone to follow you over a bumpy road and see if one of the back wheels is bouncing or moving about and let us know what you find.
Cheers Col.

Yeah. Sounds like it.
Jack it up and see how much movement you have. You might get away with changing the bearing in the end of the axle tube.
Cheers Col.

If you plan to keep the car for a while I'd got for a recon axle ... IM Axles and AxlesDIrect get a few mentions on 206info.co.uk

Otherwise it's 247spares for a 2nd hand one, but you are never sure what you are actually getting or how long it will last ...
