Rear fog light stays lit and side lights key out!!!?206cc

Post by Babymike »

Yesterday i noticed when going shopping that one of my lights was still on the driver's side. I went around the front and noticed the little lamp above the headlight was on to ever so faint then i got home and the lights where still same i turned on my heaters and cig lighter don't know why i always when have a problem get fiddling and i smelt a slight electrical burn and the lights are now on the passenger side and not the driver side its so confusing. Had AA out since my neighbour was a member and they recharged my battery since it went flat due to light being active all night , and he said that it could be some water but the car works fine. and i have to disconnect the power every time i leave the car which i want to fix but maybe somebody knows of a common issue of fault with this the Report i got from AA was as follows " suspect water in the ingress Bcm.....

Hope to hear some feedback thanks chaps new to the website.

My car is 206cc Allure 1.6 Model 54 plate

:love-thx: I'm new driver had car 4-5 months also same with licence please Help!!! :matrix:

BCM (Body Control Module) is called the BSI by Peugeot / Citroen (Body Systems Interface)
It is the fusebox above your knee, and is unlikely to get water in it. Howevever they are prone to problems.
I would send the BSI off to BBA reman to check / repair it, but whatever you do, follow the battery diconnection on this website to prevent further problems.
There are many problems listed on here regarding BSI probs. You can use the search to find loads more info.
Cheers Col.

Could i possibly have the web link for the section regarding BSI and problems with it. Also thanks for your quick reply i was awake until 3 am last night waiting for reply but i guess that's me ADHD tend to want things done there and then haha. I took it to a couple of garages this morning and i was told to come back really busy on the 9th!!! i can't wait with this problem for longer also another guy said it could be a bad relay or a fuse that is triggering this action of my rear fog light and passenger side lights remaining active when i have shut car off and lights down lock doors still on , everything else works perfectly fine apart from a weird clicking noise when in 1st and second gear with no clutch , but that i can wait electrical problems i don't like.

If you have been disconnecting battery overnight, I wouldn't think a BSI reset would work.
I would have suggested possible faulty light switch (comm 2000) but as it's only lights on one side and fog light, it does point toward BSI.

it's strange before i had the passenger side lights active , it was the drivers side , and then the ciggerette lighter made a electrical smell , and then the passenger side lights come on , also i might mention that my heaters light go on and off as they please , do you think something in the hearter system lights or cigerette lighter could have any effect on making the side lights work , and as for rear fog light it annoys the hell out of me , and is driving me to the point of selling the car since i can't afford repairs right now , the last owner was my mum she took really good care of it , still looked brand new but this is annoying apart from passenger wheel bearing going i have spelt next to nothing on this car , the wiring around car seems pretty good checked the two rear light gave them the testing wiggles and nothing is changing taken fuses out nothing change it's like the have power directly from some where else , so if it it bsi can i take it to my local garage or can they not doing anything to help the bsi recover.

And also regarding Bsi , you said its near my Knee , i recall when looking in engine fusebox and big black car in there saying Bsm it that the same thing and if so it's in my engine. could my cigerette light short thing relating to the lights being on ? the reason i keep typing back on here is because i have no where else to go with this website being the leader is problems and solving so i just hoping somebody maybe has this problem and has a fix , because the car drives perfectly and i mean perfectly no error messages no nothing , even after reconnecting the battery one thing i have noticed is when i put key in door to open it after placing battery back on is that all my dials go up and down like a chitchit noise. Really starting to test me this since i have no clue been driving nearly 5 months now with owning the car 5 months. :( Please guys lets try solve this also i have booked it in to be placed on the computer on the 9th is that the correct way to go do you think Capnol? you seem to know everything about these cars.

The BSI unit is the fusebox by your knee. It needs a specialist to test or repair it. Your local garage would simply send it to such a place. The fault will most likely be either in the Comm 2000 unit (switch gear on steering column) which is expensive to change, or in the BSI unit.
If you send off the BSI and it comes back testing ok, then all they charge is a testing fee. If it's faulty they can repair it. If BSI is OK, then swap the comm 2000.
From the burning smell you had, my money is on the BSI unit being faulty. Before you ask, no, you can't just get one from the scrappy as it's coded to the engine ECU and imobiliser. You would have to change the lot with ones that have identical part numbers to yours. You would also need the key.
Cheers Col.

Wow so sounds like either way its going to cost a bomb to repair , only had the car 5 months pretty bad since it was a hand me down from my mother who looked after so well , i guess its 11 years old but looks brand new also if i take it to the peugeot garage will they be able to determine what the problem is by plugging it into a computer or is that a total waste of time and money? what do you i love your advice on 206cc and since you know the whole works , peugeot garage or local garage worth me putting on computeR? thanks for all the replies i am wondering if anybody has had these problems before since its totally random about the left sides on and then now right are with centre fog :P instant grey hair stressing.
